From the wrought-iron, Andy Griffith-inspired jail door in our basement bar—complete with the key on an oversized ring—to a bookshelf in the kids’ room with a hidden cubby where I keep a flashlight and blanket. “We lived in a 120-year-old home. When we decided to have our dream home built in the Chicago area, we were ready for something much more modern and contemporary. Our mantra was, ‘If not now, then when?’ Jackie started with a traditional model and then transformed it into everything I imagined. It’s white stucco California beachy with lots of large windows and a dramatic entryway with a wood and steel staircase. The sliding glass doors in our master bedroom open to a deck with a beautiful view of our pool and lake. To pay homage to being the owners of several McDonald’s stores, Jackie commissioned two large canvases for the family room that depict an abstract of the famous arches. Another piece of unconventional artwork is a big monkey with a wine glass and splashes of color. I love it! Our neighbor’s kids stopped by to trick-or-treat and said it looked like a movie star’s home. We waited all our lives for this house. Jackie is so talented. She’s bubbly, quick to respond whenever we needed her, and so easy to get along with. We consider her as part of our family. We recommend her to all our friends who are ready for their dream home.”
